Please add the option to open a .pdf in the desktop app for Acrobat Adobe. Similiar to the abilty to open word or excel in the online browser or the desktop app.
We use Edge and I have changed the setting in Settings > Downloads > and unclick the box to open office files in the browser as it was click and still get the same result. See attach file.
This is needed.
Not elegant but I was able to accomplish this by:
Mapping sharepoint drive with cloud drive mapper
Using two chrome/edge plugins to rewrite the link (Redirector) and launch it (LocalExplorer)
You will need skilled IT to implement this-
If you use Chrome, this is an extension.

Try changing your brower to automitically download and then open.
