We have a need to create an auxiliary checklist that will be applied across several cases types to make work more modular, but the options for the REF could be improved to better support this workflow.
Essentially we have several tasks within this auxiliary checklist item that are dependent on each other. The issue is with the REF field of the first item. If it is set to MAN, there is no status or due date set and staff are not being prompted to perform the work without further intervention.
Setting COD (or any other REF option) accomplishes setting the status which prompts other staff to perform this workflow, but the Due date would of course be set to the case open date which isn't ideal from a reporting perspective.
Allowing for a REF option of TODAY (or Upon Creation of the checklist item) would:
Further automate due dates when the auxiliary checklist item is created
Prompt staff to start their tasks right away
Ensure due dates match expectations, thereby improving reporting.
