I would be easier if the user could make a setting election for the user's default in the search "client's" name to only search open case, open cases and intakes, or only closed cases or search both open, intakes and closed (making this the default- maybe). I understand that this may be best for a conflict check which is why I would say a user selection as a default. Maybe all names for a conflict check might be a good setting too (of course for the conflict you are not searching your client but the new party). Alternatively have only open cases come up first & have the first case determined by open client name starting with the most recent case number on top, then intakes #, basically going from the most recent open case number assigned back to the oldest case number for open client name in cases. The reason is when you have a client who has a dozen cases and 7 are closed, you have to choose to see more. I assume there is a reason that this is not a setting related to a conflict check, but I thought it would be easier.
